BENGALURU: In what might be a boost in Science education for the visually impaired, the Indian Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIIT-B) has evolved an era to assist in generating tactile photos of diagrams in Science textbooks faster.

Lack of version curriculum

“While there is a flurry of programs on Disability Studies throughout institutes together with TISS, Panjab University, MG University (Kottayam), Guwahati University, Alagappa University (Tamilnadu), to call some, UGC is but to represent a version curriculum development committee within the area to prevent the haphazard way in which it’s miles imbibed,” Karna says.
“At JNU, efforts are underway to launch the Leadership Development program in Disability Studies soon. Over 25 students have pursued MPhil and Ph.D. programs on distinct elements of disability thru the University’s various centers and faculties,” says Karna.

Interdisciplinary method

Across institutes, Disability Studies can be studied on the MA/MSc, MPhil, and Ph.D. degree as a minor/non-obligatory subject in disciplines along with the Social Sciences, Inclusive Education, Anthropology, Social Medicine, and Community Health. Since incapacity must be examined from diverse perspectives, it cannot be studied in isolation.

Job possibilities

Karna calls for encompassing Disability Studies as a non-compulsory challenge in the UPSC for careers within the administrative offerings. As freshers, they can start as assistant professors and paint to grow to be professors.
