UGC lately posted a listing of distance schooling universities accepted for the 2019-2020 academic 12 months with effect from 31 July 2019. This covers the complete list of countrywide open universities, state open universities, and different miscellaneous universities, all giving distance training.
In the modern-day announcement, 113 Higher Education Institutes or HEIs have been granted approval for the instructional 12 months of 2019-2020. The list of accepted publications includes both bachelor’ and Master’s degree publications.
Degree programs accepted are B.Ed, BA, BCom, BBA, BLISc, MA, MCA, MBA, MCom, MLISc, BSc, and MSc. A total of 1500 new packages were accredited.
Some of the personal universities that have been accredited are MATS University (Raipur), Amity University (Jaipur and Noida). IGNOU is the biggest provider of distance and online courses inside us, but it does not fall under UGC’s ambit.
Institutes are allowed to enroll college students in periods starting in January and July. The admissions for these periods must be completed earlier than the cease of February and August, respectively.
Need for ODL
The government seeks to increase GER (Gross enrolment ratio) in better education. Distance and online courses help individuals who cannot get a diploma in everyday mode.
